There is only one nucleotide difference between the SESN2 CARE and the ATF4-inducible asparagine synthase gene ASNS consensus sequence (GTTTCATCA).[1]

Human genes

Consensus sequences

An apparent consensus sequence for the nutrient-sensing response element 1 is 5'-GTTTCATCA-3'.[1]

Samplings

Copying an apparent consensus sequence for the nutrient-sensing response element 1 (GTTTCATCA) and putting it in "⌘F" finds none located between ZSCAN22 and none between ZNF497 and A1BG as can be found by the computer programs.

For the Basic programs testing consensus sequence GTTTCATCA (starting with SuccessablesNSRE.bas) written to compare nucleotide sequences with the sequences on either the template strand (-), or coding strand (+), of the DNA, in the negative direction (-), or the positive direction (+), the programs are, are looking for, and found:

  1. negative strand, negative direction, looking for GTTTCATCA, 0.
  2. positive strand, negative direction, looking for GTTTCATCA, 0.
  3. positive strand, positive direction, looking for GTTTCATCA, 0.
  4. negative strand, positive direction, looking for GTTTCATCA, 0.

  6. complement, positive strand, negative direction, looking for CAAAGTAGT, 0.
  7. complement, positive strand, positive direction, looking for CAAAGTAGT, 0.
  8. complement, negative strand, positive direction, looking for CAAAGTAGT, 0.

Comparison:

The occurrences of real NSRE is greater than the randoms. This suggests that the real NSRE is likely active or activable.
