Overview
Hypertensive heart disease is any of a number of complications of arterial hypertension that affect the heart. It is one of the most common causes of death in western societies.
Symptoms
- fatigue
- irregular pulse
- swelling of feet
- dyspnea
- weight gain
- nausea
- shortness of breath
- difficulty sleeping flat in bed
- bloating
- greater need to urinate at night [1] [2]
Conditions that can be caused by hypertensive heart disease
- left ventricular hypertrophy
- coronary heart disease
- congestive heart failure
- hypertensive cardiomyopathy
- cardiac arrhythmias
