Symbol(s) HLA-A
EBI-HLA A*8001
Locus chr.6 6p21.31

HLA-A80 (A80) is the least common HLA-A group. The serotype identifies the more common HLA-A*8001 gene product. A80 is almost exclusively found in africa and recent immigrants groups from West Africa

Serotype

A80 and A10 serotype recognition of Some HLA A*3601 allele-group gene products[1]
A*80 A80 A10 Sample
allele % % size (N)
8001 36 10 505

HLA-A80 typing is poor. Most typing is done with SSP-PCR. Most of 8001 are detected with "Blank" serotype.
