Risk calculators and risk factors for Chronic renal failure electrocardiogram

ECG changes in CRF

  • The only clinically identifiable risk factor for arrhythmias is advanced age.
  • The most common ECG changes noted in CRF patients are decreased amplitudes of T waves and increased amplitudes of QRS waves.
  • Shortened or prolonged QTc intervals and ischemias like ST-T changes are also noted.
  • The incidence of supra-ventricular and ventricular arrhythmias are also increased in patients with chronic renal failure. [1]
