Overview
As with any other surgical intervention, surgical closure for atrial septal defect's repair carries risks and potentials for complication. Potential complications include comorbidities such as atrial fibrillation, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, and stroke.
Complications
In some patients, surgical intervention may result in developing complications such as:
