Overview

Contrast enhanced CT scan of the chest and brain can help diagnose air embolism and its complications.

CT

  • CT chest may show intra-cardial air[1][2]
  • CT chest may show a filling defect in the lungs[3]
  • CT of the brain may show areas of ischemia[4]
  • CT abdomen/pelvis may show areas of ischemia
