Surgery is required in the treatment of cerebral venous thrombosis with life-threatening intracranial hypertension.

Indications

For the treatment of increased intracranial hypertension and impending transtentorial cerebral herniation in cerebral venous thrombosis(CVT), surgical decomprerssion procedure is lifesaving. Surgical thrombectomy is required in the setting of severe neurological and visual deterioration despite maximal medical therapy.
