The Smile Train

The Smile Train is an international charity which helps children suffering from cleft lip and palate.
It was founded in 1999, and as of 2007, has treated over 265,000 children. 100% of all donations go towards providing cleft surgery, as the Board of Directors pay all administrative and fundraising costs. It supports treatment, training and research in over 66 countries, with its major focus on China and India.
In the United States, The Smile Train qualifies as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit by the Internal Revenue Service, and donations are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations.
