Secondary Prevention

Primary polycythemia (polycythemia vera) can't be prevented but symptoms can be prevented or delayed with proper treatment. Patients with serious heart or lung diseases may develop secondary polycythemia. Treatment for the underlying disease may improve the secondary polycythemia.
