Overview

Surgery

  • Surgery is not the mainstay of therapy for wild-type (senile) amyloidosis.
  • Left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) implantation can be considered but a review of the Interagency Registry for Mechanically Assisted Circulatory Support (INTERMACS) database is necessary to better evaluate the outcomes of LVAD implantation in these patients.[1]
