Overview

The genus Enterovirus belongs to the Picornaviridae family. It consists of 13 species of which seven contain human pathogens of more than 250 types, excluding three poliovirus serotypes. They include coxsackieviruses, echoviruses, numbered enteroviruses and rhinoviruses.
