Tracheitis is a rare disease.
There is limited information about the historical perspective of tracheitis.
In 1920, it first began to appear in literature.
It was initially known as acute laryngotracheobronchitis due to inflammation involving the larynx and bronchi.
In 1979, Jones et al reported case series on this disease entity in children.
It was then commonly referred to as Bacterial tracheitis in medical literature.
