Overview

Patients are usually elderly or institutionalized. The most common symptoms of volvulus include abdominal pain, abdominal distension, constipation and vomiting.

History and symptoms

Patients with volvulus may have a positive history of:[1]

  • Prolonged confinement in bed
  • Institutionalization
  • Residency in an elderly home
  • Debilitation
