Dr. Bassel Almarie is a physician at the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He studied Medicine at Leipzig University in Germany and received his Masters of Medicine from Oradea University in Romania. During his medical journey, he received distinguished academic awards such as the ERASMUS+ scholarship from the European Commission and the Merit Scholarship from the Romanian Minstery of Health. He studied for one year at the medical faculty of the University of Valencia in Spain as a part of an exchange program, and completed the summer academy for emergency and disaster medicine at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin.

He completed internships in cardiovascular surgery at the University of Milan - Monizino Heart Center (Italian: Centro Cardiologico Monzino) and general surgery at the American University of Beirut and the University of Zurich affiliated hospital. During his surgical training at the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen, Dr. Almarie was concurrently enrolled at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, where he completed the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research program. He is currently a Teaching Assistant at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Associate Editor-in-Chief at WikiDoc.org, and leading a collaborative research project with researchers from Harvard Medical School and the University of California, San Francisco.

In his free time, Dr. Almarie likes to collect art, travel, and write. His favorite authors are Atul Gawande and Anthony Bourdain.
