In statistics, Receiver-operator characteristic is defined as "A graphic means for assessing the ability of a screening test to discriminate between healthy and diseased persons; may also be used in other studies, e.g., distinguishing stimuli responses as to a faint stimuli or nonstimuli."[1]

Interpretation

One interpretation is[2]:

  • Greater than 0.9 has high accuracy
  • 0.7–0.9 indicates moderate accuracy
  • 0.5–0.7, low accuracy
  • 0.5 a chance result

One interpretation is[3]:

  • more than 0.9 is considered outstanding
  • 0.8 to 0.9 is considered excellent
  • 0.7 to 0.8 is considered acceptable
  • 0.5 suggests no discrimination
