PET scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma. It is particularly impotant in monitoring the response of treatment. Reduced biological activity on PETscan is indicative of improved prognosis.

  • In contrast to CT imaging, FDG-PET is a functional imaging tool that can distinguish between viable tumor and necrosis or fibrosis in a residual mass.[1]
