Plummer syndrome is a condition that can occur when a hyper-functioning nodule develops within a longstanding goiter. The result is hyperthyroidism, without the opthalmologic effects of other conditions with increased levels of thyroid hormones like Grave's disease. These toxic multi-nodular goiters are most common in women over the age of 60. ^[1][2]
