Overview

Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for anaplastic thyroid cancer.

Tracheostomy is frequently necessary. If the disease is confined to the local area, which is rare, total thyroidectomy is warranted to reduce symptoms caused by the tumor mass.^[1]
