Overview
Adequate preventive measures must be implemented to curtail the spread of Lassa fever. Cost effective therapy if was properly implemented 5 decades ago in Lassa would have prevented devastating consequences of the disease pervading now.
Cost effectiveness
- Cost effective therapy would encourage the patient to seek medical care immediately if they suspect illness esspecially in the lower economic strata.
Other ways of cost effective management of Lassa fever include the following:
- Effective rodent control.
- Prompt isolation of the patient.
- Proposed vaccinations for visitors from the United Nations, non-governmental organisations, and business communities to the endemic areas would improve the cost effectiveness.[1]
