Chondromas are classified according to their location.
Chondroma may be classified according to location of the outgrowth into 3 groups that include [[enchondroma]], [[periosteal chondroma]] and synovial chondroma.
[[Endochondromas]] : Tumor grows within the bone and expands it.
[[Ecchondroma]] - grows outward from the bone and this is rare. [[Periosteal]] chondomas are on the surface of the bone and other chondromas form in soft tissues.

Overview

Chondroma may be classified according to location of the outgrowth into 3 groups that include enchondroma, periosteal chondroma and synovial chondroma.

Classification

  • Another classification for chondroma which is used less commonly is based on their anatomic locations:[4][5][6]
