Born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam, at the age of 18, Dr. Nguyen left his native country to come to the United States to further his education. He completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA, Los Angeles, California in 1967, and obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the UCLA Medical School in 1971. He completed his Pediatric Residency at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA in 1974 and obtained a fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation at the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, CA in 1975. He became Board Certified in Pediatrics in 1976.

He began practicing Pediatrics by joining the Ross-Loos Medical Group which eventually became the CIGNA Healthplans of Southern California. During the more than twelve years with that organization, he served as Chief of Pediatrics of the Southern California Region for 4 years (1980-1984), then Chief of Staff of the West Los Angeles Branch for another 4 years(1984-1988).

In 1988, he moved to the South Bay area to open a private practice with a partner, Dr. Linda Reid. The practice started in Gardena, CA, and moved to Torrance, CA within 2 years. In 1995 he merged with several local primary care practices to form the Medical Institute of Little Company of Mary. During those years with the Group, he served in the Board of Directors for the Medical Institute, was acting Chairman of the Board of the Doctors' Group for 2 years. He was also the Medical Director for the "Partners for Healthy Kids", an outreach program sponsored by the Little Company of Mary Foundation to provide medical care to underserved areas in the South Bay.

In March, 2004, after 8 years with the group, he decided to open a solo practice in Pediatrics, with his wife Hanna Alexander as the Office Manager. Drawing on her customer service skills from her 20 years experience as a travel agent, Hanna has been instrumental in the success of the practice. Together, they wanted to create a pediatric office that delivers excellent care in a friendly, warm and compassionate manner, where the patients and their parents feel like they are coming to a home instead of a cold medical clinic. He juggles for the little ones, and does magic tricks and folds Origami animals for the older ones.

As they recently celebrated their 8th year anniversary of the practice, they can honestly say they are accomplishing their goals.

Between the two of them, Dr. Nguyen and Hanna have five grown children from previous marriages: Kim Xuan Nguyen, a veterinarian in Davis, California; Scott Alexander, a Quality Control Manager for a website company, Steven Nguyen, a Certified Financial Analyst for an investment firm, Emil Alexander, a college student and biller in Dr. Nguyen's office, and Nicole Alexander, an office manager for a manufacturing company. They also have 2 grandchildren, Stephanie, and Melanie.

Dr. Nguyen spends his leisure time with his wife and her extended family, otherwise he studies magic to perform magic tricks for his patients at the office.
