Dr. Shafer is currently a senior resident in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. She will be starting a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at University of Texas- Southwestern in July 2009. Dr. Shafer graduated from University of New Mexico Medical School and has a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University.
Her future career plans include a focus on non-invasive imaging and adult congenital heart disease. She plans to integrate this with her established interest in international medicine.
