Overview
High-risk patients should be counseled on safer sex behaviors such as the use of condoms, and the risk of infection with STDs.
Primary Prevention
- Risk reduction against sexually transmitted diseases through abstinence or barrier methods such as condoms.
- Regular gynecological (pelvic) exams with STD testing to screen for asymptomatic PID.[1]
- Evaluation and prompt treatment of sexual partners.
