Lipopolysaccharide-Binding Protein (LBP) is a soluble acute phase protein that binds to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (or LPS) to elicit immune responses by presenting the LPS to important cell surface pattern recognition receptors called CD14 and TLR4.^[1]
