Emil Alexander de Schweinitz (1866-1904) was an American bacteriologist.
He was born a son of Moravian Bishop Emil de Schweinitz at Salem, N. C.. He graduated at the University of North Carolina in 1882 and at Göttingen in 1886. After becoming associated with the chemical division of the Agricultural Department, Washington, D.C., he was appointed director in 1890 of the biochemical laboratory of the department's Bureau of Animal Industry.
He was also chair of chemistry and toxicology in the Columbian University and later its dean.
He made and specialized in hygiene and of bacterial products, of tuberculosis and hog cholera,
Among other essays, he published Laboratory Guide (1898).
