The most potent risk factor in the development of tumor lysis syndrome after initiating chemotherapy is kidney disease. Other risk factors include dehydration, hematologic tumors, and solid tumors.
Risk Factors
The followings are risk factors for developing tumor lysis syndrome after initiating chemotherapy:
- Hematologic malignancies:
- Acute leukemia (highest rate with acute lymphoblastic leukemia)
- Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
- Multiple myeloma
- Other malignancies:
