Ferulic acid

Sodium ferulate (SF, or 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-cinnamate), a salt of ferulic acid, is a drug used in traditional Chinese medicine for treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and to prevent thrombosis. It is found in the root of Angelica sinensis. It is considered safe and effective.[1]

Kraft Foods has patented the use of sodium ferulate to mask the aftertaste of the artificial sweetener acesulfame potassium.[2]
