  • Keeping body well hydrated
  • Good glycemic control
  • Hydration before getting a contrast fluid
  • Avoiding unnecessary or prolonged catheterization
  • Following septic measures while catheterizing
  • Preventing undue procedures involving the urinary tract
  • Avoid smoking
  • Avoid excessive alcohol use
  • Moderate exercise
  • Avoid prolonged holding of urine
