Interpretation:

Interpretation of the HAMILTON Score

The interpretation of the score is as follows:

  • Score ≤2: Unlikely probability of DVT
  • Score ≥3: Likely probability of DVT
  • The combination of a HAMILTON score ≤2 and a negative D-dimer excludes DVT with a negative predictive value of 99%.
