Glioblastoma multiforme is a malignant form of astrocytoma histologically characterized by pleomorphism of cells, nuclear atypia, microhemorrhage and necrosis; may arise in any region of the central nervous system, with a predilection for the cerebral hemispheres, basal ganglia, and commissural pathways."
