Ultrasound may be performed to detect metastases of choriocarcinoma to pelvis and abdomen.

Ultrasound Findings in Choriocarcinoma

Ultrasound is usually the first test done if suspects a gestational trophoblastic tumour is suspected. It is used to:

  • Identify most types of gestational trophoblastic disease
  • Check for metastasis in the pelvis or abdomen
  • plan treatment
