Tertiary Prevention

  • Primary complications like diabetes mellitus and severe hyperglycemia can be prevented by lifestyle modifications and avoidance of severe obesity.
  • Routine pediatric immunizations; monitoring of cardiac status and oxygenation during acute illness and postoperatively can help prevent secondary complications like dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure, pulmonary infections and ESRD.
