Overview

Tissue biopsy is the gold standard test for the diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma.

Diagnostic Study of Choice

  • Tissue biopsy is the gold standard test for the diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma[1].
  • It is recommended that experienced pediatric pathologist evaluate tissue sample.
  • It is essential for proper diagnosis, histologic classification of tumor, treatment option and prognosis estimation of rhabdomyosarcoma.
  • Open incisional biopsy is recommended for diagnosis.[2]
  • Core biopsy is not suggested that much due to inappropriate tissue sampling and errors.
  • The recommended biopsy type for bladder, prostate, and vagina tumors is endoscopic biopsy.
