Major histocompatibility complex class I-related gene protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MR1 gene.[1][2][3] Human MR1 protein has 341 amino acid residues with a molecular weight of 39 366.[4] The MR1 protein is able to bind to molecules derived from bacterial riboflavin biosynthesis, and then present it to mucosal associated invariant T cells for activation.[5][6]
