Overview
Surgical treatments include Curettage, in which molluscum contagiosum lesions are surgically removed. Additionally, laser therapy can be effective in the treatment of molluscum contagiosum lesions.
Surgery
Curettage
- Physical removal of the molluscum contagiosum lesion with a curette[1]
- Immediate effect of treatment
- High number of lesions and concomitant atopic dermatitis are considered as risk factors associated with treatment failure
- Can lead to small, depressed scars as a side effect
Laser
Pulsed dye laser therapy for molluscum contagiosum may be effective as the treatment for multiple lesions in patient [2][3]
