This image depicts the volar surface of a patient’s left forearm revealing a large red spot, which had formed at the site he’d received a skin test, referred to as coccidioidin or spherulin, given to determine the presence of Coccidioides antigen. This skin test will indicate whether or not the patient was exposed to the Coccidioides spp. fungal organism. In this case, the reaction showed a positive result.
