Epidemiology

  • In the USA, there are approximately 200,000 to 500,000 patients are diagnosed to have experienced TIA.[1]
  • About 300,000 to 700,000 individuals may have experienced neurological signs and symptoms of stroke. [2][1]

Demographics

  • The incidence of TIAs is more common in males and increases with age.
  • There is increased incidence of TIAs in individuals with risk factors such as hypertention, diabetes mellitus, ischemic heart disease and hematological disorders.
