Lyme disease is the most commonly reported vector-borne illness in the United States. In 2015, it was the sixth most common Nationally Notifiable disease. The number of people diagnosed with Lyme disease each year in the United States is around 30,000.<ref name="urlLyme disease data tables | Lyme Disease | CDC" /> This disease is concentrated heavily in the northeast and upper mid-west.
