Overview

Pleuropulmonary blastoma is a rare form of cancer with involvement of lung and pleura ^[1]

Historical Perspective

The disorder was first reported in 1988.

Classification

Type I: Multicystic lesions
Type II: Thickened areas (nodules) within this cystic lesions
Type III: Solid masses

Epidemiolgy and Demographics

Age

Pulmonary blastoma occurs more commonly in children.

Diagnosis

Symptoms

Symptoms may include

Chest pain
Cough
Shortness of breath
Upper respiratory tract infection symptoms

Chest X ray

The disorder can cause pseudo-cardiomegaly on chest x-ray as the tumor can expand the apparent border of the heart.
