Overview

Ultrasonography of the breast may be performed to detect the breast cancer associated with Paget's disease of the breast. It must be considered as a part of the initial evaluation in patients with negative mammography.

Ultrasonography

  • Ultrasonography of the breast may be performed to detect the breast cancer associated with Paget's disease of the breast.
  • Ultrasonography may be helpful and must be considered especially in patients with negative mammography as a part of their initial evaluation.[1]
  • Most findings of ultrasonography may be nonspecific and may resemble those in cases of infection.
  • The images mainly reveal parenchymal heterogeneousness, hypoechoic areas, discrete masses, skin thickening or dilated ducts.[2]
