Influenza should be differentiated from the following diseases or pathogens that present with similar signs and symptoms:
- Adenoviruses
- Arenaviruses
- Cytomegalovirus
- Chlamydia pneumoniae
- Dengue fever
- Echoviruses
- Legionella infection
- Mycoplasma pneumoniae
- Parainfluenza virus
- Rhinovirus
- Respiratory syncytial virus
