Patients treated for hypopharyngeal carcinoma should follow-up with the following:[1]

  • Thyroid function test to rule out hypothyroidism in patients who were exposed to a high beam of radiation therapy.
  • Head and neck examination after the treatment in the following orders:
    • Every month for the first year.
    • Every two months for the second year.
    • Every three months for the third year.
