Hospital Tycoon is a single player video game developed by Deep Red Games and published by Codemasters. The game is designed for PC and set to run exclusively on the Microsoft Windows platform. It was released on June 5, 2007 in North America, on June 8, 2007 in Europe and on August 12, 2007 in Australia.

The game lets the player manage a hospital from a god view. Each different hospital is staffed by medical teams and is packed with ill patients. The player needs to manage the staff, ensure patients are cared for and have the correct treatment facilities. As time progresses, new equipment will need to be built in order to cope with incoming patients. The game can be played in a sandbox mode also.[1]

Media reception

The game scored a low overall rating from all video game critics, criticising its graphics and bugs. [citation needed]

Future updates

Codemasters and DR Studios are not currently planning to release any updates for the game[2]. Complaints have been made that the retail version contains bugs such as a shortage of patients.

Below is an official statement from Codemasters detailing that the developers have changed their name and that there are no plans for a patch at this time.[2].

"The developers of Hospital Tycoon have changed name, following a management buyout, but are still operational. There are currently no plans for a patch, I'm afraid. If an issue or bug is discovered in the game that affects a lot of users we will address this and if this needs a patch to resolve the issue then we will create one. There will be no updates that change the current design or features of the game, however." - Codemasters, June 2007

A user created patch attempts to resolve issues such as few patients and lack of available diseases, though it is still in its infancy. [3]
