Overview

Gastritis is inflammation of the lining of the stomach.

Historical Perspective

Classification

Gastritis may be classified according to chronicity, into two categories: acute and chronic. Gastritis may also be classified by pathology/pathophysiology into subtypes by proposed classification systems such as the updated Sydney system or the Operative Link for Gastritis Assessment [OLGA] staging system.[1]
