Overview
Patients of all age groups may develop enchondromas. Enchondromas affect men and women equally. The male to female ratio is 1:1. Periosteal chondromas commonly affect individuals of 20-30 years of age. Males are more commonly affected with periosteal chondromas than females.[1]
Epidemiology and Demographics
- Patients of all age groups may develop enchondromas, although, the incidence of enchondroma peaks in the third and fourth decades of life.
- Enchondromas affect men and women equally. The male to female ratio is 1:1.
- Periosteal chondromas commonly affect individuals of 20-30 years of age. Males are more commonly affected with periosteal chondromas than females.[2]
- The incidence of Ollier's disease is approximately one per 100,000 worldwide annually.[3]
