Classification

Blind loop syndrome ( short bowel syndrome) occurring after surgical resection can be classified into 3 types depending on the type of resection.

Type 1:

• after Jejunostomy (end jejunostomy)
• Common reason
• dehydration starts immediately after surgery

Type 2:

• occurs after Jejunocolic anastomosis
• weight loss and nutrition abnormalities occur after months

Type 3:

• occurs after Jejunoileal anastomosis
• weight loss and nutritional abnormalities occur after months
