* Score = 0: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 0.4%
* Score = 1: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 0.6%
* Score = 2: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 1%
* Score = 3: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 1.7%
* Score = 4: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 2.9%
* Score ≥ 5: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 7.2%

The IMPROVE score for venous thromboembolism (VTE) assesses the risk of VTE among hospitalized medical patients.[1] Check all boxes that apply to your patient:

Interpretation of the IMPROVE Score for VTE

The interpretation of the score is as follows:

  • Score = 0: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 0.4%
  • Score = 1: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 0.6%
  • Score = 2: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 1%
  • Score = 3: Predicted VTE risk through 3 months is 1.7%
