[[Computed tomography|CT scan]] is not routinely performed for cases of acute diarrhea. However, it may help in the detection of certain rare causes of acute diarrhea such as [[inflammatory bowel disease]], [[Lymphoma|intestinal lymphoma]], [[carcinoid syndrome]], and other [[neuroendocrine tumors]].

  • The high-resolution computed tomographic scan(CT) findings of acute interstitial pneumonitis include:
  • Bilateral, patchy, symmetric ground-glass opacities / bilateral airspace consolidation (opacification)
    • These findings can be seen in other diseases and are therefore nonspecific
  • Traction bronchiectasis
  • Septal thickening
  • Honeycombing indicate the presence of underlying fibrotic lung disease.
