Overview
There are no MRI findings associated with occupational lung disease. However, a MRI may be helpful in distinguishing in (coal worker's pneumonconiosis) progressive massive fibrosis from lung carcinoma.
MRI
- There are no MRI findings associated with occupational lung disease. However, a MRI may be helpful in distinguishing in (coal worker's pneumonconiosis) progressive massive fibrosis from lung carcinoma. MRI is also useful for pleural pathologies and in minimizing radiation exposure.[1]
- Progressive massive fibrosis will demonstrate a hypointense signal on MRI
- Lung cancer will demonstrate a hyperintense signal on MRI
