James L. Fishback, M.D., is the Chancellor's Club Distinguished Teaching Professor of Pathology and Lab Medicine at the University of Kansas, School of Medicine. He is a native Western Kansan, from Garden City, and is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from the USAF in 2008, with the rank of Colonel. He holds degrees from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas State University, and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Fishback specializes in infectious disease pathology, and did a fellowship in Clinical Microbiology at Duke University. He is actively involved in teaching and curriculum design for the pre-clinical curriculum at the University of Kansas
